Australian Partner Visa Blog

LET’S REMOVE THE RED TAPE

The department requires a statement from your friends, or people that know you, in regards to your relationship with the person you are wanting to sponsor. The person that makes this statement must be an Australian permanent resident, or an Australian Citizen and must attach evidence of this to the 888 form. A drivers licence as evidence of being an Australian resident, is not acceptable evidence. It is frustrating for the client when they appear in my office all happy that they have returned the 888 form, only to be told that it is filled out incorrectly.

A case officer is a person who is designated the task of assessing your visa application.  This person is most likely in Australia, but not necessary. More and more commonly, the case officer is at an overseas post, and you can tell this as the grant letter will be issued from that post.  Case officers routinely juggle more than 100 cases at any one time, so it is important that your file is presented in the best way possible to thus limit hassles during processing.
